If this sounds like you, apply now for instant consideration! **Pay** : $30-34/hr based on education and experience level We are seeking a motivated and skilled **Biologics Research Associate** to join our client's R&D team for an exciting one-year discovery initiative focused on screening corn germplasm for colonization by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. This role sits at the intersection of plant biology, microbiology, and molecular biology, offering hands-on experience across laboratory, greenhouse, and field environments. **Key Responsibilities:** + **Greenhouse Trials:** Support greenhouse studies evaluating corn inoculated with microbial treatments. Tasks include planting, managing fertilization regimes, recording measurements, and conducting destructive plant harvests. + **Microbial Applications:** Perform basic microbiology techniques to culture, quantify, and apply microbial inoculum for plant inoculation. + **Field Sampling:** Travel to field sites to collect root samples across diverse corn germplasm. + **Molecular Biology:** Execute routine molecular biology workflows, including DNA extraction, quantification, and DNA amplification (e.g., qRT-PCR). + **Bioinformatics:** Assist in identifying and analyzing target gene variants within corn germplasm. + **Microscopy:** Assess microbial colonization in plant roots using histochemical staining, fluorescence imaging, and other standard or advanced microscopy methods. + **Data Analysis & Presentation:** Contribute to data collection, analysis, and communication of results to stakeholders across R&D. + **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Provide support to team members working on controlled-environment plant physiology studies or microbiology experiments as needed. + **Lab Safety & IP Compliance:** Maintain adherence to safety standards and support efforts related to intellectual property protection. **Required Qualifications & Competencies:** + Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, in Plant Physiology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline. + Hands-on experience in one or more of the following: plant physiology, beneficial plant-microbe interactions, soil microbiology, and/or molecular biology. + Experience with microscopy techniques (e.g., fluorescence imaging) is highly desirable. + Strong scientific foundation in biologics or related fields, with the ability to integrate interdisciplinary approaches to solve research challenges. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences. + Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, and adjust to evolving priorities. + A proactive mindset with a commitment to project execution and team success.
